2nd Stay and wonderful again - June 2011

This was our second week-long stay at the Palazzo and it didn't disappoint. Impeccable service, outstanding breakfast, a wi fi that works. The location is great. Easy walk to most everything on your tourist to-do list and buses that stop either outside or less than a block away that take you in minutes everywhere. For those wanting a laundromat, there are two about two walking blocks away that were always empty. Very fine restaurants in the neighborhood and the staff recommendations were spot on. A special thank you to the young man who manages the breakfast room - couldn't be more welcoming, accommodating and kind. But that goes for everyone in the hotel. I would add that it was my 69th birthday and on our return from dinner, an absolutely delicious birthday cake was waiting for me. So thoughtful. We'll be back!

Luxury suites in a Palace, superb in every respect! - April 2011

In prior trips to Florence, I'd always stayed right in the city center, to be near the Uffizi, Duomo, etc, and was worried about staying in this hotel across the Arno. But I shouldn't have been: this is a real gem. First, the location is just 4 or 5 minutes by foot from the Ponte Vecchio, so don't worry about being far from the tourist sites. Second, it has only 12 unique rooms in a 17th century palace. The staff is ultra-helpful, the rooms are large and plush with lot of amenities (coffee, refrigerator, wireless, exercise room, fancy soaps, etc) and the price was very reasonable considering what you get. You could pay a lot more at some brand-name hotels in Florence and get a lot less. If you want a luxury experience, you can't go wrong here. I'm pretty demanding about hotels and I really had nothing to complain about.

Perfect Palazzo in Perfect Firenze! - March 2011

We stayed here for 3 nights in February 2011 and our only complaint is that we wish we could've stayed longer. The location is perfect with all of Florence on your door step, and the Palazzo is beautifully tucked away on a small side street. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and when inside the Palazzo is a very peaceful place to be. The roof terrace is stunning, with views over the whole of Florence - aside from the Duomo there are not many higher bulidings than the Palazzo roof terrace. Even in February it was lovely to sit up there with the roof top heaters and blankets provided for an evening beverage or two. Florence is fabulous, and this is the perfect place to stay for a lovely place to return to every evening.

Rinascimento still alive - January 2011

Fine hotels there are everywhere. But if one goes to Florence, it is not to get the kind of experience any other city can provide. And to get a glimpse into the unique florentine atmosphere, to escape time and feel what it might be like to live in the times of the Medice, there is no better place than PMF.
The residence overwhelms the guest mainly because of its very authenticity. Staying there is something between a rare privilege to sneak into a real Palazzo of the old times, and a sacrilege – for many of the items to be found as well as the building itself could very well qualify as a museum.
If this sounds somewhat offputting for a 21st century layman, a helpful multilingual staff provides a more than adequate service, but (which is more) does so in the discreet, low-key manner that this imposing living relic of the Renaissance suggests. Unforgettable – especially for those who can appreciate.

A most welcoming place to stay - Family with Teenagers - 2010

We spent 4 nights at this hotel and enjoyed all of it. It's location is on the other side of the Arno down from the 'action,' but we found this a welcome relief. Two bridges downstream from the Ponte Vecchio and you're there. One street in from the river and you're walking by interesting shops, especially shoes and leather.
We stayed in a 4-room suite (Francesca) which was most accommodating and spacious. One bedroom was directly over the street and could be noisy, but being tired each evening from touring, we slept well. The kitchen area was especially nice. We enjoyed the breakfast area and the quality of the food, and though the terrace was a bit of a climb, we enjoyed come 'home' to it each evening for the drinks and the view.
The staff was always cordial and very helpful. They even allowed us to store our bags when we returned several days after checking out and needed a 'home away from home' while touring and waiting for the train.
There is an additional bonus to this hotel, the restaurant Dante, just across the street. We dined 3 consecutive nights and enjoy every meal...and this is in a town where food choice abound! The combination made for a wonderful, warm visit and we'd certainly return. One observation was the number of American students in the vicinity of the hotel. It made for some noise on Thursday and Friday evenings, but they were having fun, and it made us wish we'd taken that 'overseas education' option so many years ago
